Material Introduction: PA66 DUPONT 42A (USA DuPont) is a high‑viscosity, unreinforced general‑purpose injection‑molding PA66 resin. Its core advantages include suitability for thick‑wall parts, good mechanical strength, wear resistance, self‑lubricating property and ultrasonic‑weldable performance. Its inherent water‑absorption property will affect dimensional stability and partial performances (large performance difference between dry and conditioned state); strict drying is mandatory before processing.

Main Applications

Automotive industry: Automotive gear‑shift components and machine‑processed stock raw materials.

Mechanical parts: Bearings, gears, pulleys, pump impellers, high‑pressure sealing rings, gaskets, valve seats, bushings, oil pipelines and oil reservoirs.

Electronic‑electrical industry: Electrical insulating parts such as electric coils and cable joints.

Injection Molding Parameters

Processing Item Recommended Range / Condition Notes & Explanations
Drying Treatment Hot‑air drying at 80‑85 ℃ for at least 4‑6 h; vacuum‑dry at 100‑105 ℃ for over 6‑8 h under high‑humidity conditions. Critical operation. Control moisture content ≤0.2% (max drying loss 0.05%) to avoid hydrolysis‑induced bubbles, silver streaks and mechanical‑property deterioration. Use immediately after drying or seal and keep warm properly.
Melt Temperature 280‑300 ℃. Adjust according to equipment and products. Avoid temperature>310 ℃ or long residence‑time to prevent thermal degradation. PA66 melting point:262℃.
Mold Temperature 50‑90 ℃ for most parts, 80 ℃ recommended. Higher mold temperature improves crystallinity, surface gloss, mechanical performance and dimensional stability; lower mold temperature shortens cycle time.
Injection Pressure Adjust per product & mold design. High‑viscosity grade may require higher injection pressure, especially for thick‑wall articles.
Injection Speed Medium‑low speed. High viscosity brings large flow resistance; excessive speed shall be avoided to prevent excessive shear heat and internal stress.
Back Pressure 0.5‑0.7 MPa (approx.5‑7 kgf/cm²). Moderate back‑pressure homogenizes melt and facilitates venting; excessive back‑pressure reduces plasticizing efficiency and may cause overheating.
Screw Speed Medium‑low speed. Avoid excessive shear force to prevent material thermal degradation.
Runner & Gate Enlarge gate size for high‑viscosity feature. Short solidification time of PA66, gate location and dimension are critical for filling.
Shutdown Notice Purge barrel with PE / PP with good thermal stability at production pause or shutdown to prevent carbonization of residual PA66; turn off heating system for long‑term shutdown.
Molding Shrinkage 1.4%‑1.5% (estimated from 0.014‑0.015 cm/cm). Typical value, subject to process and product design.
